With deep sadness, the Romanian Association for Excellence in Orthodontics bids farewell to Professor Rodica Luca, MD, PhD, an emblematic figure of Romanian pediatric dentistry, an exceptional teacher, and a person who contributed, with passion and dedication, to the development of dental medicine in Romania.

Over the years, we have had the honor of having her by our side in numerous projects, initiatives, and professional collaborations, united by the same desire to promote excellence, education, and progress in dentistry. Together we built not only valuable projects, but also relationships based on respect, trust, and friendship.

Professor Rodica Luca left a deep mark on the generations of doctors she trained and on the entire professional community. Through the generosity with which she shared her knowledge, and through her professionalism and dedication, she became a point of reference for those who had the privilege of knowing her and learning from her.

She dedicated her life to children's smiles, and through the generations of specialists she mentored, this mission will continue. It is a legacy that goes beyond the boundaries of a remarkable career and will live on through every doctor inspired by her example.

Today, our community loses a professional of unquestionable value, but also a trusted partner, a friend, and a person of rare nobility of spirit.

You work under the microscope, at fractions of a millimeter, but the weight of the profession builds up over time: a restricted operating field, fixed positions you hold for hours so you don't make a mistake, frightened patients, difficult decisions you have to make alone, patients arriving one after another, complaints, paperwork, suppliers, payroll, investments, and phones that don't stop ringing even after hours.

At some point, your body starts to hurt, you can no longer concentrate, the practice follows you home, and the profession eats away more and more of your time, energy, and life.

This is where TIRED OF BEING GOOD. THE DENTIST'S BURNOUT begins.

The book is far from being a manual, and it isn't a guide with recipes for how to "treat" your burnout. It is a book written from research, from direct experience, and from different perspectives on a very simple and painful question: what happens to you when your profession starts to consume your body, your time, and your life outside the practice?

The volume follows the fatigue exactly where you feel it every day: in the back and neck stiffened from hours on end, in the constant fear of making a mistake, in the pressure of money and paperwork, in the responsibility weighing on your shoulders, in problems at home, and in the feeling that you must always be flawless, available, and in control, even when you feel you can't anymore.

We gathered ideas from medicine, psychology, ethics, law, and the humanities precisely because the burnout you go through doesn't come from a single place. And to get out of it, you need things that concern your body, the way you organize your work, clear boundaries, your team, your relationships, rest, art, music, literature, and the freedom to put your profession in its proper place in your life.

On Wednesday, September 16, starting at 3:00 PM, at Agora Events Iași, as part of the StomaConect 2026 Congress , we are launching this book together with you and your colleagues – we wrote it for you.
